GPS Online Police Record Check Application
Please ensure you read the entirety of this online application carefully.
Welcome to the online portal for police record checks offered by the Guelph Police Service (GPS). We have a complete on-line application process where you can apply, verify your identity through third-party Equifax, and receive your record check in the mail. If choosing the pickup option, you will receive an email when you can pick-up your completed record check. All applications are to be submitted online.
GPS offers the ability to apply online for three types of police record checks. Please refer to our FAQ for details regarding the three types of police record checks. If you are not sure what level is required, contact the agency requesting the police record check for clarification, as record checks cannot be altered once submitted and are NON-REFUNDABLE. We accept online applications for employment, student placements, adoption and volunteer opportunities. If you have been asked to complete a record check by multiple organizations, you must submit separate applications for each record check.
We do not offer expedited checks for any reason.
To apply for an online police record check you must currently be a resident of Guelph. Temporary residents of Guelph can apply with proof of Guelph residency (i.e. lease agreement). Please note that applications will be voided for applicants residing outside of Guelph. All applications are non-refundable. If you are not sure if you reside within the city limits of Guelph, please contact the City of Guelph. You can also check the following link.
Applicants must be 18 years or older unless they will be employed by or volunteering with a government organization.
Applicants must include the name of the specific organization or individual that has requested that they complete a record check. Record checks cannot be processed without a specific requesting organization, and as such, applicants must not submit an application before being asked to obtain a record check. Note that you cannot list yourself as the requesting organization/person.
Do not apply for a record check if you have been requested to complete a Local Police Records Check Form for the purpose of applying for a Pardon/Record Suspension. Please contact us for more information.
If you have been requested to get fingerprinted for reasons including but not limited to getting a VISA, getting a waiver, or by Immigration Canada, do not apply for a record check with our Service as that is an RCMP process. Please contact the organization that has requested that you get fingerprinted or the RCMP for further information.
Please note: the Vulnerable Sector Check is restricted to applicants seeking employment and/or volunteering in a position of authority or trust relative to vulnerable persons where the organization is in Canada only. Please contact us or refer to our FAQ for more details.
Please note: for Vulnerable Sector record checks, if the RCMP requires fingerprints, applicants must attend to the Guelph Police Service station to be fingerprinted in order for the police record check to be completed. Please refer to our FAQ for more details.
